I also grew up promoting machismo and stigmatizing feminism.

Yes, I was, thought and acted as a woman accepting, normalizing, and at times, even encouraging a male-centered culture. I was so part of the system, I was an advocate to it. The system = patriarchy. I didn’t know better. Now I do.

Baby me was caged by her beliefs.

Me too. Strauss Khan. Epstein. These names are not new. We’ve heard them for years and probably ring a bell to many. We are not taking it anymore.

As you’ve probably heard thousands of times this year, 2020 and 2021 will be particular years that brought literally life-changing moments to many. To name all the moments, breakthroughs, revelations and redirections I’ve taken this year that are without a doubt shaping my future would require hours and probably a couple of drinks.

One, however, can be summed up in some lines. Feminism.

Without really planning it through, I came to understand and reshape my understanding of feminism. Amidst the tumultuous events of 2020 I do wish to highlight how we have stopped normalizing sexist, racist, discriminating conducts and stereotypes that our cultures (at least the one I grew up in) considered acceptable, funny and sometimes even expected.

This is another reason why this pandemic is marking a historic milestone. We are aware of reality and see it with different eyes. Younger generations have a higher level of consciousness, I am personally proud of and certainly admire and appreciate. (Thank you, younger generations for calling us out and showing us how we have normalized these conducts). It’s taken my generation longer to have a fairer grasp on reality where there’s space to encourage a very much needed stance to say no more to oppression, injustice, discrimination and belittling of all forms.

During this year, more than before, I’ve seen stories of injustice, violence against women, discrimination shared on large platforms like Netflix. Clear evidence that as an international society we are ready to hear these stories, we are ready to see them, honor them and transform them into wisdom for ourselves and future generations. Dismissing the harm we cause to the world is no longer acceptable.

During the past months I started consulting for an organization that prides its culture under what they call a “feminist ecosystem”. I have discovered and experienced the true and genuine definition of sorority: women working together in an uplifting and supportive environment. There really are no words to express how magical it is to allow our divine feminine to take space in work environments. I needed this to believe in myself, in women, in humanity. Faith in humanity has grown my dears.

We are shifting the energetical balance of the world. We are creating spaces where our masculine and feminine energies coexist in harmony and love. We are allowing ourselves to be vulnerable and assertive, regardless of our gender. We are redefining reality for ourselves and for future generations.

I am evolving and I commit to educating myself to see reality through a fair lense that acknowledges disparities in our world.

We are evolving.

Love and light my dears,

N.
